Responsible Sourcing

100% of directly purchased and printer supplied paper in the UK is FSC. Most books printed in Asia are also FSC certified and all new books and reprints feature the FSC logo.

WWF Timber Scorecard

New Headquarters

In 2019, Pan Macmillan moved its headquarters to The Smithson, which is centrally located in London and features LED lighting, bike racks, showers, and outdoor terraces.

Renewable Energy

Beginning in 2021, MDL is procuring locally-sourced renewable energy. In addition, other sites receive renewable energy credits via REGOs  in the UK.

Book Chain Project

Pan Macmillan UK is an active member of the Book Chain Project, which brings together publishers, printers, and paper mills to increase transparency within the supply chain. BCP focuses on paper sourcing, chemicals and materials, and labour & environment.

Zero Waste Operation

MDL has made substantial efforts to reduce waste in their distribution operations and in employee well-being. We are looking into converting single use cups and bottles to reusables. In 2020, we had a 97% diversion rate from landfill inclusive of recycled books at our warehouse, which is considered a “zero waste operation.”
